Our friends at AboutFace are delighted to introduce a new educational resource on cleft lip and palate from the perspective of the child.

Making Faces: Logan's Cleft Lip and Palate Story, is a 90-page picture book documenting the treatment cycle, from birth to young adulthood, of a girl born with a cleft lip and palate. This book is designed to help parents talk to their children about their cleft and the treatment process they will undergo. It is both accurate in information and is written in simple language to enable children to understand and to support parents in discussing the issues with their child.

Over the years, AboutFace has learned that the best way to prepare children for the treatment of any medical condition is to address their concerns, fears, and unknowns. Children and parents are better prepared if they are able to read, discuss, and question the process. This book is designed to facilitate that process. Logan shares her experience from surgeries, orthodontics, speech, and social and school issues like teasing and bullying.

The book is $15.00 each, plus shipping and handling. To order your copy, download the PDF at the link below and fax, mail or call AboutFace. To order multiple copies of the book, complete the attached order form, visit their website at www.aboutface.ca, or call them at1.800.665.3223 x21. Orders of 10 or more books receive a 20% discount.
